Keana Baylis is the owner of Little Village Home Child Care LLC. Her passion for teaching started at a young age being inspired by her teacher Lillian Bell. She started off as a young girl playing school with her teddy bears and a desk her mom got her. She then began tutoring her young cousins that her Auntie Boo (Lela Johnson) invested in her little job by giving her 25. Being an entrepreneur is new to Keana. She had her tutoring service at the age of 12. She had her maid service on Saturday’s charging $5 per room. At the young age of 17 she was hosting Mary Kay parties at places such as Trunk Parties with her mom. She started doing nails out her mom basement while selling Avon at the age 18.
Little Village Home Child Care started as a dream, then a vision, to birth in 2013. Its roots come far before that. Little Village Home Child Care started with a little girl at the age of 12 playing school in her bedroom, to tutoring her cousins for 0.25 on Saturday’s. At that time, it was called Little Daycare. Little Village Home Child Care was established in September 2013 as exempt unlicensed family childcare.
A year later in September 2014 Little Village Home Child Care was established as licensed childcare and a changed name Little Village Home Child Care LLC. We set out to provide an educational program for children 6 weeks to 12 years old running 24/7. Over the years Little Village Home Child Care has established Paths to Quality Level 2 and 3, becoming accredited with NECPA, the Better Business Bureau, and providing the On My Way PreK Program.
Little Village Home Child Care LLC has been honored to provide care for St. Joseph County and families in surrounding areas from Mishawaka, Granger, Plymouth, and New Carlisle. We look forward to generations to come.

Miriam Smith our Curriculum Specialist works closely with our teacher and owner to ensure the best educational guidelines for our children here at LVHCC. Miriam Z Smith is a mother of four as well as a SheEo (Chicago Learning Center and Chicago Girl’s Jump) and an educator. in the City of Chicago.
Ms. Smith currently possess a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice as well a Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Literacy. In the process of completing my education, I’ve gained 18 plus years in a wide range of academic settings as a lead teacher, co-teacher, paraprofessional, parent liaison, resource/program coordinator, professional development facilitator, curriculum and instruction coach as well as reading intervention. I’ve dedicated a vast amount of my professional time and experience in the urban community, in which I am a product of.
One of her ethical beliefs are all children are educable. You have to meet children where they are and understand their homelife in order to effectively deliver what they need. No child should be left behind!
Ms. Denika is a fun, energetic teacher. She enjoys working with the toddlers because they love to only play and discover. She says it amazes her how curiuos and intelligent they are at such a young age. When she is not working at LVHCC, she is a PRN, Medical Health Technician at Oaklawn Children Campus. Ms. Denika loves to travel and spend much time with her son Derrion.
Ms. Skyy Walker passion and purpose is dedicated to school age children and youth. She enjoy working with school age children because they love to have fun all day. She loves being a mentor and big sister to our school age children. She has a Bachelors is Arts, integrated new media studies and motion graphics.
When Ms. Skyy is not working with school age children at LVHCC, she is at her charge Sweet Home Ministries helping the youth there where she is in charge of summer camp, children’s church, and the praise dancers. She also love creating her jewelry pieces and since Covid has created and donated over 1,000 masks for health and safety of children, workers, and parents throughout South Bend.
